The game should have had coop, switching between miles and peters feels pointless and unless you are doing a specific mission for them switching feels pointless. Very few side quests in the game and the few you do have are fetch quests with no impact to the story.

These characters do add a bit more flavour to the world and its largely homogenous population of NPCs you’re clearly not intended to look at too closely. Speaking of boss battles, that’s one area that takes a noticeable step up from our initial tangos with Kingpin, Vulture, and the rest. One of my criticisms of the first in Insomniac’s series was how uninspired many of the showdowns felt, with their quicktime-heavy fights making a light impact. Improvements were made in Miles Morales, but here in the full-fledged sequel, boss battles really come to life. You’re made to wait a little too long for them sometimes, but when they do arrive they never fail to excite.

Two missions later, players are treated to the most odd, but also the most heartwarming boss fight of the game, as Mary Jane becomes consumed by the Symbiote and tries to take down Peter. Peter wins the fight as MJ becomes herself again before vowing to help Peter and Miles take down Venom. At the end of the game’s second act, Peter saves Miles from Kraven before the two Spider-Men face off, as Miles tries to get Peter to give up the Symbiote. Miles defeats Peter and captures the Symbiote before the two of them bring the alien suit back to the destroyed rubble of the April May foundation. This fight concludes the game’s second act and sets up a tense final act, as Peter and Harry are set to face off as enemies. You must glide from Financial District which is in the south-west corner of the map all the way to Astoria district which is in the north-east corner of the map.

In the moody, alternate-universe story Dark Ages, the entire Earth is essentially sent back to the Dark Ages when an EMP knocks out all electricity. In this world, Miles Morales bonds with both the Venom and Carnage symbiotes at the same time, resulting in this terrifying new look.
